Historical vestiges in Mures

Description:

Mureş County is located in the north-central area of the country, in the heart of the Transylvanian plateau and lies between the mountain peaks of Calimani and Gurghiu until the Tarnavelor Plateau and Transylvania Plain.

Historical vestiges in Mures:

• Medieval Fortress in Tirgu Mures: The Medieval Fortress is situated in the centre of Targu Mures. The complex of the fortress covers an area of 4.3 hectares and consists of a fortified enclosure with 7 bastions joined by walls. Inside the defense complex we find the Calvin -Reformed Church and Manutanţei building.;
• Medieval Citadel of Sighisoara: It is located on the middle course of Tarnava Mica. Medieval Citadel of Sighisoara is one of the only inhabited fortress in southeastern Europe and together with the Biserica din Deal and Casa Vlad Dracul represent important touristic places of Transylvania;

• Bethlen Castle Ruins: It is situated in Sanmiclaus, Alba County. Bethlen Castle in Bahnea has an impressive history that rivals the most daring films and scripts that seem to defy the passage of the time.

• Casa Vlad Dracul: It is located in Sighisoara town of Mures County. The ex house Paulini seems to be the oldest civil building of stone in the city, judging by semi-cylindrical vault built of rocks from the river taken from ground floor. Today, "Vlad Dracul"  houses a refined restaurant in a medieval style that satisfies the demands of tourists from everywhere;

• Gornesti Castle: It is located in Gornesti, Mures County. Built in Baroque style between 1770 and 1778. It is situated in a beautiful arboretum and include 52 rooms and 365 windows, symbolizing the weeks and days of the year.;

• Tower Hall: It is located in the center of Sibiu. It is one of the most famous monuments of the city of Sibiu. It has this name because there is the gateway to the second site, located next to the building that housed the Sibiu City Hall;

• Kemeny Castle: It is situated in the village of Jucu de Sus, Cluj county. Castle, built in the nineteenth century, has the form of L letter , with 22 sides and 16 meters. It consists of basement, ground, floor and roof, with 2 inputs. The building has two entrances located on the southern side, is surrounded by a small entry porch with two columns on which there is a terrace;

• Bethlen Cris Castle: Bethlen Castle is found in  Bethlen, Mures County. In the village Bethlen Cris Castle rises majestically, one of the most beautiful castles in Romania. Although it has gone through many trials, the castle from Cris has resisted all, hoping to catch a better time and to regain a color and appearance of another time;

• Passage of Stairs: It is located in the city of Sibiu, Sibiu county. Linking the city from above and below by two city branches of stairs and arches that surround the fortress walls surrounding the Evangelical Church. Built in 14^th century it preserves the original appearance;

• Lapusna Castle: Lapusna Castle is situated at an altitude of 815m, in the village Ibanesti, Lapusna village, at 70 km from Targu Mures, a special mountainous area. The castle is located at 45 km from Reghin Gurghiului Mountains,on the valley with the same name. The  construction of the castle was performed  between 1925-1926. It  belonged to the kings of Romania (Ferdinand, Charles 2, and Michael I) until 1949.;

• Oarba of Mures Monument: The village where the Heroes Monument is located is called St. George. A long time agom the village land was called "plain" and belonged to Oarba de Mures. It is the monument of the Oarba of Mures County, where in World War II 11,000 people died and the place where the river Mures was red at that time. It has a very nice panoramic view.;
• Gurghiu Ruins of XIII century: Gurghiului fortress is on a wooded hill at a height of 500 m and dominate Gurghiu town of Mures county. It was built on the ruins of an old Roman camp;
• Castle Teleky of Dumbravioara: It is situated in the Dambovicioara village, in Mures County. Another castle built in baroque style is that of Dumbravioara built in 1769 by Samuel Teleki Count;
• Mariaffi Castle. Sangeorgiu: The village is located in the Mures. Mariaffi castle was built in 1870;
