It occupies the historic region of Transylvania, central, northern and western Romania, neighboring with Ukraine to the N to NW to SW with Hungary and Transylvania separates Moldova Eastern Iugoslavia. Carpathenians E, while in S is separated from Wallachia by the Southern Carpathians.
Transylvania region consists of four sub-components: the center and east - Transylvania, most of them (55,146 kilometres square), Devon (10,497 kilometers square) in the north, Crisana (12,238 kilometres square) in the northwest and sub-Banat (18,966 square km) in the south-west.
The main towns are: Cluj Napoca, Brasov, Timisoara, Oradea, Baia Mare, famous both as a cultural and tourist centres as well as the powerful industrial centres.
Cluj County territory is characterized by a wide variety of landscapes and landforms, which come to add a number of natural monuments. Its geographical location gives it a privileged position, whose importance is amplified by its impressive tourist recreation resources. Mountains Gilau, Trascau and Vladeasa are distinguished by their peaks extended through the valley and keys (Turda, Tour, Stanciului River). Lakes Fintinele, Tarnita and Floroiu (accumulation), salt lakes in Turda and Cojocna, ponds in Transylvania Plain, mineral waters, however, are points of great interest. One may add historical monuments dating from ancient times, monuments of art and original folk elements.
Botanical Garden
It is one of the most beautiful and complex botanical gardens in South East Europe. It was founded in 1920 by university professor Alexandru Borza. Located in the south of the city, at an altitude of 400-410 m, the garden spreads over 14 hectares. Within this museum of nature, trees and plants specific to all continents find optimum conditions for development.
Baile Someseni
Located in the east side of Cluj, about 4 km from the central area. Located at an altitude of 360 m, Baile Someseni are positioned on a salt peak at low depth. Thanks to their virtues ( therapeutic mineral water and bicarbonate springs, sodium chloride) they offer possibilities for treatment of various diseases.
Cojocna Bath
It is located in the east of Cojocna village on the left slope of the Salt River valley at an altitude of 340 m. The mild climate of the picturesque resort is enriched by two lakes (Lake Toroc and Big Lake) and it is ideal for treating many diseases. The resort offers its guests warm and cold baths. There are pools for hot baths arranged instead of the old salt minings which were active from Roman times until the Middle Ages.
Baita Bath
Spa, located at 265 m altitude, near the village with the same name. The resort has a millenary existence, attested by evidence of use of mineral waters since Roman times. Warm weather, two mineral hypothermal bicarbonate springs (18-20 0C), low chlorine and sulphur may be used to treat skin and rheumatic diseases.
TURDA BAI Resort
It is in a depression area surrounded by forests in the south of Turda city, at an altitude of 360 m. The Baths dating from Roman times were mentioned since the Middle Ages until the late eighteenth century under the name the "salt mines of Turda". The most important lakes of the resort are: Roman Lake, Lake Nightingale etc. The resort may be used especially for those with problems of the musculoskeletal system.
Ocna Bath Dej
Situated at an altitude of 320 m, the resort has a series of pools arranged on an old salt mining. Its water has a concentration of up to 250 g / l, as indicated in particular in the treatment of rheumatic diseases.
Turda Gorge Natural Reserve
Established in 1938, the reservation is one of the most important natural monuments in Cluj County. The diversity of the relief provides the necessary conditions for characteristic flora and fauna: wild garlic, species of ferns, etc.
