Comarnic Cave is one of the largest and at the same time one of the most beautiful caves of Banat, with its halls and monumental grandeur formations. It is open to tourism, being currently refurbished and not electrified. This does not take away its beauty, on the contrary, gives visitors an air of mystery and adventure.
Location and road access.
Situated in the range of Iabalcea village (com Carasova, Caras-Severin), represents a hydrologic breakthrough of Ogasul Ponicova in limestones that create Cleantul Putnata (681 m). Comarnic entry is on the left side of the valley with the same name, about 200 m from Canton Comarnic forest (440 m alt.) Ponicove entry (the insurgency) is in a large meadow, located near the road , 3, 5 km away from Canton towards Anina (470 m alt.).
Buhui Cave
Large cave (3217 m total length), slightly downwards (with some important thresholds), active (over 2100 m of underground runs through the main gallery). There were three successive catchments: the first at Peştera Cuptoare, and the second to Intrarea Certej, the third sink downstream of the dam by Lake Buhui closely related stages of climatic quaternary variations. It is presented as a gallery of variable sizes, with several turns and several large rooms
Location and road access. Two openings of the cave are dug into the left side of the Valley Buhui, one before the end of the valley to a Saua Cuptoare, and another beyond the saddle. To get there one has to start either from the city cemetery in the direction of Lake Buhui or from Celnici canton.
Popovat Cave
Large cave (1121 m) consisting of one floor of fossils and another one under fossil.
Location and access road.
As the previous one, it is located in the village Iabalcea in Dealul Navesul Mare (678 m) and has the entrance in the right side of the Valley Caras, the absolute altitude of 421 m and relative altitude of 45 m. From Comarnic Canton, located on Drumul Stegului (Road Stege), 14 km from Resita, one may go about 500 m in the direction of Anina, reaching the junction with the embankment destroyed and over run by weeds of the former narrow gauge railway, one may go forward about 1 km, a tunnel is crossed through and then after another 1.5 kilometres, one may go up to the hardware door.
Bats Cave
The cave entrance is known as the Bridge Peciom and it is noticed by any visitor of Caras Gorges because of its silhouette similar to that of Africa. The cave is warm and very humid (12,5-13,5 ° C and 100% between 2-30 points in the months from July to August)
Location and road access .
Common Carasova (Caras-Severin county). The cave is carved into the Dealul Fac (Carsa), which forms the right side of Caras Gorge where the river turns dramatically. From the mills of Carasova dam you may go about 20 minutes on the road Prolaz going up in the right entry that recalls the outline of Africa, visible from the train.
