Where is it located?
Mamaia is a summer resort on the western shore of the Black Sea. It is located
in the northern city of Constanta. It is
an independent town district of Constanta but with very few permanent residents
(under 50), yet overcrowded during the summer. Construction of residential,
taking place today on Lake Ovidiu, is likely to change this state of affairs.
Mamaia is a strip of land between the Black Sea and Lake Ovidiu with a length
of 8 km, but only 300 m wide beach very long, with a width of up to 250 m is
covered with fine sand. Throughout the resort there are several shops,
restaurants, terraces, clubs and discos.
How can you get there?
To get you on
the Romanian coast you can follow the National Road Bucharest - Fetesti -
Constanta, European route E60 Urziceni - Slobozia - Constanta, European road 87
Tulcea - Constanta, Braila and Galati or National Road Calarasi - Constanta.
In summer there are additional possibilities to go to the coast. Between
Constanta and Mangalia there are railway stations. For those who want to use
air routes, about 20 km from Constanta there is the Mihail Kogalniceanu International
Airport that serves the Romanian Black Sea coast, airport located near
Constanta and connected to the main European capitals by carter flights during
summer season .
Holiday
Village
Holiday Village is a picturesque place that hosts 31 of the Romanian
traditional restaurant, decorated in rustic style, as the region they
represent. The holiday village offers the most beautiful handmade souvenirs
from shells. These souvenirs are handmade from sea shells.
Aqua Magic
Aqua Magic is the most modern water park on the Black Sea coast, stretching
over an area of 27,200 sqm (2.7 hectares). Slides, pools for adults and children,
water falls, pools, restaurants, bars, fast food sites and souvenir shops park
turn the place into one of the most visited recreational areas in Romania.
Gondola
It is a cable transport installation, which allows tourists go up to the height
of the resort and which offers an unforgettable image of Mamaia, Black Sea and
Lake Siutghiol. This is an accomplishment unique in Romania and one of the few
projects of its kind in the world. Telegondola project, with a carrying
capacity of 600-1500 persons per hour, is a way that targets tourists wishing
to admire the height of Mamaia, tourists and can embark on the two stations,
first in the Hotel Perla, and the second in the Casino area.
