Where is Nera Beusnita Gorges National Park?
Nera
Beusnita Gorges National Park has a total area of 36,758
ha.
It is situated in the South-West of
the country, in the southern mountains of Anina, the administrative
territory of Caras-Severin, between localities: Sasca
Montană, Sasca Română, Potoc, Socolari, Ilidia, Ciclova, Oraviţa, Anina,
Bozovici, Lăpuşnicu Mare, Dalboşeţ, Şopotu Nou and Cărbunari.
Tourists can visit the Park in any season, the main sightseeing places are Nera Gorges, Devil's Lake, Ochiul Bei Lake, numerous caves and travertine deposits waterfalls.
It includes Nera Gorges (a
karst area at the mid-course of river Nera - the backbone of the park) and the Beu
stream course to upstream, including Devil's Lake, the famous waterfalls
of Beusnita, Ochiul Beului Lake and Susara Waterfall.
The park includes several nature reserves with strict protection.
The main purpose for which the park was established was to preserve biodiversity,
flora and fauna, landscape, local traditions, promoting tourism, environmental
education and public awareness.
Nera Beusnita Gorges National Park
enjoys an extraordinary wealth of flora, a diverse and unique
landscape and kept the savage state due to the difficult access.
