Monastery, near the town Malini (16-17 km fromFalticeni), is built by Alexander
Lapusneanu, between 1554-1558.
The monastic complex is composed of the church itself, royal house, fountain,
surrounding wall, over 2 m thick and 6-7 m high, with towers for defense. It
was a centre of culture and medieval art, where they worked masterfully for
weaving, embroidery, miniature and it was the place where chronicles. were
copied
Inside the church there are the graves of Alexander Lapusneanu and two of his
daughters.
Slatina is a fortified monastery
founded by Prince of Moldavia, Alexander Lăpuşneanu, located in Suceava County.
It was built between 1554 and 1558, to serve as royal necropolis.
The monastic settlement is irregular, since the line is interrupted in the
eastern wall of the gate tower, which was built in 1834. The canopy above the
entrance is a chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas and Spiridon, painted in the Byzantine
style. A bridge opposite the southern wall suggests that the high walls were
built to defend the monastery of robbers.
In every corner of the monastic settlement there is a massive tower, but the tower in the
northwest is much higher than others. This is the steeple, where two large
bells in 1830 are preserved.
At first, the church had five rooms, sanctuary, nave, the tomb room, narthex
and exonartex, but the tomb chamber was demolished in 1828. Apses are not
visible outside the church, but they are cut on the extent of the wall. There
are nine columns, two to the west façade, three to the north and the south
facade and one to the east apse, but they seem more decorative than functional.
Facades are plastered, painted and decorated with niches. The south facade of
the church is the tomb Superior Nile.
