Description:

Territory situated between the Danube and Black Sea, Dobrogea was inhabited since ancient times by the Geti and Scythians and is bordered in the north by Dobrogea Massif (Macin Mountains - mountains short, blunt), surrounded by broad plateaus waves (Tulcea Plateau, Plateau Babadag, Plateau Casimcea) interrupted by depressions, north-east by Danube Delta and in south by  a tabular plateau. The climate is Continental arid, except for the marine shoreline.


In its eastern part there is the board of a chain of resorts on the Black Sea coast (Costinesti, Mamaia, Saturn, Venus, Aurora, Jupiter, Neptun-Olimp) with large beaches, sand and salt water. With a length of 24 km, the Black Sea presents, besides the resorts, some others where you can experience multiple medical treatments (Mangalia, Eforie Sud, Eforie Nord, Techirghiol). Dobrogea earth is crammed with archaeological monuments with historical significance for the Roman people (Tomis Fortress, Callatis and Histria and those of Enisala and Mahmudia; complex Adamclisi, the monument Tropaeum Traiani), the natural reserve forest, the dunes and speleology (Gura Dobrogea Caves, La Adam and Limanu) and a series of famous vineyards (Murfatlar, Niculitel, Sarichioi).


A special tourist attraction of Dobrogea, the second largest in Europe (3446 kmp), is the Danube Delta, biosphere reserve, with millions of birds from different parts of the world (the polar zone, southern Africa, Asia, Western Europe and Mediterranean Sea), who stop here regularly or are in transition. Sacalin Islands (called "bird paradise") are also some of the interesting places of this area that should not be missed by tourists.

  • Aquarium, Planetarium and Dolphinarium;
  • The Pier and the Genoese Lighthouse at Constanta; Sulina lighthouse;
  • Callatian Archaeological Reservation
