The Romanians have created an artistic treasure revealing literary works in which they have expressed their aspirations of the bravery and have sung and voiced the intimate feelings and thoughts.

Doina is one of the representative literary creations.  It is considered a specific Romanian creation which enriches the literary folklore with tales, ballads, etc..

As a literary species, Doina is a work of lyrical poetry in which people express a wide range of feelings (of longing, of grief, love) characterized by great depth and is interpreted using a song.

Doina has therefore certain characteristic features. It is a lyrical literary work, as the lyrical self, the voice of an anonymous author expresses a variety of feelings directly. Feelings and  ideas are expressed through artistic images taken using figures of speech. As artistic means  personification prevails which helps in achieving a common reason, usually found in  Doina: the motif of the linking between man and nature.

As far as the metrics is concerned, Doina has some specific features, the songs are brief, the lyrics have 7-8 paired syllables Metric elements are in harmony with the expressed sentiments and give Doina a specific music of popular poetry.

In addition to the features that individualizes it has features of popular literature: the anonymity, group, oral, syncretic and expressive.

The folk poetry "Doina" has all the features of the rare species called Doina.

First, it is a lyric opera, and lyricism is evident by the presence of lyrical self, which directly expresses the feelings of admiration. Doina is personified and is addressed to a loved using the vocative.

„Doină, cântic dulce dulce/ Când te-aud nu m-aş mai duce"

"Doina, sweet sweet song  / When I hear you I would not go long"

The feelings are deep and stable anonymous poet. Doina is for him " sweet song, verse with fire" and listen with pleasure and admiration ( "I heard you are the place"). Therefore always sings and everywhere: outside the house, in woods in all seasons, helping it to survive.

Doina has recently entered the UNESCO Heriage Fund.
