Description:

Paying attention to the Romanian classical music one can easily detect that it has its inspiration point in ancient Romanian folk music, Byzantine music and psalms. The latter represent the sources for the religious music genre.

The important schools of  composition appeared in the nineteenth century in Moldova, where Gabriel Muzicescu, Ciprian Porumbescu, Eusebius Mandyczewski carried out their activity,  and in Transylvania and Banat, where Gheorghe Dima, James and John Muresaniu Vidu were creating beautiful songs.

The true folk music and the sublime tones of Byzantine music, freed from the strong and rhythmic influences specific to Romantic schools in Germany and France, appear with the establishment of Coral "Carmen" at the end of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century, a musical society preoccupied with musical creations  that were really valuable. D.G. Kiriac and George Cucu started their activity in this framework

Then, they were called the "front generation", the generation who fought on the front in World War II to create the Unified Romania, or, in other words, to create that Romania in which the civilization and culture of Old Roman Dacia  were to be preserved at all costs. This generation was dominated by the  genius of George Enescu and included among its composing talents names as:  Mihail Jora, Mihail Andricu, Sabin V. Dragoi, Dimitrie Cuclin, Martian Negrea, Constantin Dimitrescu.

The descendants of the generation of composers dominated by  Enescu's musical genius, also contributed to the improvement of the Romanian school of composition. They are Paul Constantinescu, Sigismund Toduta, Zeno Vancea, Ion and Gheorghe Dumitrescu, Alfred Mendelsohn, Constantin Silvestri, Tudor Ciortea, Theodor Rogalski. The generation of poet Nicolae Labiş includes important composers such as Tiberiu Olah, Stefan Niculescu, Aurel Stroe, Anatol Vieru, Dumitru Capoianu, Pascal Bentoiu, Theodor Grigoriu, Cornel Taranu, and then Nicholas Brandus, Alan Glodeanu, Mihai Moldovan, Octavian Nemescu, Corneliu Cezar.

We present  almost the entire school composition Romanian truly valuable. Its creative style is diverse, starting from the means of expression present in Western music, taken as a thesis to those encountered in folk music, taken as the antithesis, to eventually reach an original synthesis.

Romanian composers` creations were becoming perfect, as the historian Nicolae Iorga wonderfully put it: "Life is a gift, return it with due respect and full recognition"
