Cluj Napoca

Located at the crossing of roads, of national and international interest, Cluj-Napoca has permanently been a tourist attraction because of both historical monuments of the past, and rich cultural and scientific activities favoured by precious values hosted in museums and libraries, the existence of dramatic and lyric theatres, with large audience and, not least the existence of the Botanical Garden in Cluj-settlement of European reputation, inside which there is a valuable botanical museum.

Botanical Garden Cluj-Napoca 

It is one of the most beautiful and complex botanical gardens in South East Europe. It was founded in 1920 by university professor Alexandru Borza. Located in the south of the city, at an altitude of 400-410 m, the garden spreads over 14 hectares.

Matei Corvin house 

The house was built in Gothic style in the XV century, the only monument of this period preserved in good condition. It is assumed that this building was inaugurated on 23^rd of  February 1440 by Matei Corvin. Built before 1440, the building has undergone many changes so that only the main facade preserves elements that belong to the Renaissance.

The defense of Cluj City 

In the XIII century the first defensive walls of the city of Cluj equipped with observation towers were built.  Citadel is on the right bank of the Somes and occupies 7 ha. Two centuries later with the assistance of craftsmen, other walls of stone were built, with entrance gates and watchtowers to protect the old fort. Pieces of fortification that have survived until today are Turul Pompierilor and Bastinul Croitorilor which survived while maintaining their original form. 

Calvaria Church

The monument was founded by Benedictine monks who built an order church in Romanesque style in the late XI century. It seems that the site of this church was built between 1470-1508 The 1820 dwelling was rebuilt in the current form.

Saint  Michael Cathedral

Being approximately 700 years old, it is monument of Gothic architecture and a true emblem of the city. It witnessed many historical events hosted by the coronation ceremony, the Parliamentary Assembly and enthronement of princes. Near the cathedral there is a famous statuary group, dedicated to Prince Matei Corvin, sculpted in bronze and unveiled in 1902.
