In Romania all the citizens have the right to education regardless of the social origin, gender, politics or religion with no other restrictions which may constitute infringement of the human rights. 8 classes are the compulsory for all the students. Education shall have an open character to every citizen by providing him/her the access to all levels and forms of education, and is free. The State pays the general education, and helps especially the students who get the best results at school and show special aptitudes for the training in the field of their profession.
Education of all grades shall be in Romanian language, ensuring at the same time, to the national minorities the right to learn and be educated in their mother tongue. The education system in Romania includes the state educational institutions as well as private. The education system has the following structure: pre-school education: small group, middle and high school preparation, Primary Education: classes: I to IV and secondary education: classes: V-VIII high school education: classes: IX-XII (XIII) ; post-secondary education, higher education - university education ( B.A., M.A, Ph.D.)
