Maps of Romania

If you are looking for a map of Romania because perhaps you are holidaying there this summer and want to check out where exactly you're going, you may be having some difficulty in finding one! It's notoriously difficult to track down good maps of Romania... there are general overviews galore but it's hard to find something which goes into enough detail...

Two good options are the Suceava website which provides one of the most detailed map we have been able to find on the web . It covers the whole of Europe and has a route planning facility if you want to check driving distances. It also zooms in to street level in the larger towns - smaller towns and villages aren't shown in such detail though it will show main roads. Google Maps is very similar and in some areas is more detailed showing street level road names. This is what we use on the Guide2 Websites - there is also a Directions facility and the facility to email maps to others.

If you really want to see the location of a place you are going to stay, check out Google Earth for a birds eye view of actual houses, beaches and villages! The satellite imagery is incredible and in some cases unbelievably clear! Have a look at Dubrovnik... Some areas are not yet covered very well but it is worth a look to see if yours is...

For more detailed local maps, the only option is still really to contact local tourist boards when you get to Croatia. Sometimes if you search online you can find local maps but it's a little bit pot luck... Keep an eye on our Country Info section which we will start adding local maps to over the coming weeks.
