Geographical Situation

It is located in the south-eastern part of Romania, in the north –east of the Romanian Plain, on the lower Danube.

In the north: Galati County, in the north-west: Vrancea  County, in the west: Buzau County, in the south: Ialomita County, in the east: Tulcea and Constanta Counties.

Surface

4,766 square km (respectively 2% of the country`s territory).

392,000 inhabitants

Towns

Braila is the capital of Bihor and it has 236,000 inhabitants.

Touristic Attractions

The Danube, has 2,500 km, separates in to two arms, Macin and Cremenea. 

Lakes

Of the natural lakes, we can mention: Sarat, Caineni, Movila Miresii, Plopu, Ianca, Secu.

 Monuments of Nature

The Viisoara Forest, a forest preserve covering a surface of 1,700 hectares (Braila-Slobozia road up to Insuratei and then , 25 km south-east on a country roud, towards the Spiru Haret village). The preserve includes species of gray oak grown here, in a fully steppe region, due to the good climate conditions. The Small Island of Braila, complex preserve where, on over 5336 hectares, one can see rare species and lots of birds.
