Every year, the Sfatului Square in Brasov was overcrowded with passionate quality music lovers and highly valuable artists. The Golden Stag International Festival has acquired the status of an annual tradition, held in the Sfatului Square in Brasov, in August-September.The seventeenth edition of the International Festival in Brasov, scheduled during September 2 - 7, will include appreciated singers, winners of numerous awards in national and international competitions. According to the daily paper "Cronica Romana," the stage of the festival will be entered by 27 competitors from 20 countries (Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Israel, Italy, Macedonia, Malta, Mexico, the Republic of Moldova, Norway, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and Romania). Last year's winner was Razvan Kryvach (Romania) with the song "Too Much Love Will Kill You." This year, Romania's representatives to the festival in Brasov will be confronting strong international competition. Laura Voutilainen of Finland has won two Emmy Awards. Bojana Atanasovska (Macedonia) has won the "Makfest" festival in Macedonia, "Fantana Di Malme" (an Aromanian festival) and "Marco Polo" in Croatia. Massimo Bertacci (Italy) has won the prestigious Cesme Festival in Turkey, the "Moskoj Uzel" International Festival in Russia and the "Astana 2007" International Festival in Kazakhstan.
Another Italian singer, Antonino Spadaccino, won the "Amici" Award and a Golden Record in 2005 for his debut single "Ce la faro." Nikolai Demidov (Russia) won the New Wave Festival in 2005 and in 2009, he achieved the second place of the "Discoveryfest" International Festival in Varna, Bulgaria. Orlin Pavlov from Bulgaria and the band Kaffe achieved the third place of the Golden Stag Festival in 2003. Olia Tira from the Republic of Moldova collaborated with artists such as Zdob & Zdub, Transbalkanica and Dan Balan Band, and recorded the debut album "Your Place or Mine?" in 2007, at the Liberty Rock Studio in Paris. Another representative of the Republic of Moldova is Geta Burlacu, the laureate of numerous international competitions of France, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Romania, Ukraine and Belarus. In May 2000, she attended a Jazz-Duo master-class held by the late Anca Parghel, in Belgium.
