The film "If I want to whistle, I whistle", directed by Florin Serban, won the Silver Bear - Jury Grand Prize at the Berlin Festival, and the Alfred Bauer prize for artistic innovation. The film is the feature film debut in Romanian director.
The film is based on play with the same name of Andrea Valean and focuses on the story of a young man in a prison who falls in love with a psychology student and tries to escape a few days before release.
It's the first Romanian feature whose distribution was made a casting detail in rehabilitation centers for juveniles. The role was but chose George Pistereanu, graduate of the Art "Dinu Lipatti" in Bucharest.
Florin Serban, debuted in feature film, received the Silver Bear and Special Jury Prize from the hands of Renée Zellweger. "If I want to whistle, I whistle" received the award ceremony Saturday night and Alfred Bauer "for a film official competition opens up new perspectives in art cinema.
